Vladimir Putin approved the updated nuclear doctrine of the Russian Federation.
According to it, aggression of any country from the military bloc against Russia will be considered as aggression of the entire bloc. And also aggression against Russia or its allies by a non-nuclear state with the support of a nuclear state is considered a joint attack.
The decision to use nuclear weapons is made by the president. The Russian Federation also reserves the right to use nuclear weapons in response to the use of weapons of mass destruction against it or its allies.
Nuclear deterrence is carried out when a potential enemy deploys air defense systems, INF, high-precision non-nuclear weapons and attack drones. Russian state policy on this issue is strictly defensive in nature.
