InPost provides hot drinks to couriers. Controversy surrounding benefit cards

What does it look like exactly? In an internal communique, which was made available on the Internet, Rafał Brzoska, president of the InPost Group, thanks the couriers for their commitment in difficult weather conditions, also informs that Hot drinks are waiting for them in each branch to help them warm up before the route, after returning and during breaks.

As the InPost spokesman explained, couriers, in order to receive a warm drink, they use vending cards that are regularly topped up as part of the benefit program. Thanks to them, they can buy products from vending machines.
The company ensures that these cards are topped up every month.
Reactions of InPost couriers
The introduction of the program was met with mixed reception. Some employees and social media users appreciated the company's gesture, but there were also critical voices. Some couriers pointed out that the drinks were not completely free because they had to be paid for using pre-loaded cards.
One user noticed that drinks are available from vending machines for a certain fee, and another emphasized that this is not standard in every courier company. The comments also included opinions that the use of vending machines involves additional costs for couriers.
Pursuant to Art. 232 of the Labor Code, as the “WP Finanse” website reminds, the employer is obliged to provide employees working in particularly difficult conditions with free meals and drinks, if necessary for preventive reasons..

In practice, this means that people performing physical work outdoors, such as couriers, should be provided with free access to hot drinks appropriate to the prevailing weather conditions.
