Driver without a license, detained after driving into a store in Cluj

A 38-year-old man was pre-arrested on Friday, after causing a traffic accident in the parking lot of a mall in Florești, Cluj County, informs the Cluj County Police Inspectorate (IPJ). The driver, who did not have a driver's license, lost control over the direction of travel, left the roadway and first hit a public lighting pole, then the wall of a shop, according to a press release from the IPJ.

The accident took place on DN 1 (E60), in the parking lot of the local shopping center. Following the impact, a 55-year-old passenger was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Also, the driver was taken to a medical unit for the collection of biological samples, but he refused the collection.
“Following the checks carried out, it was determined that a 38-year-old man, who was driving a car from Gilău to Cluj-Napoca, allegedly lost control over the direction of travel, due to the speed not being adapted to the road conditions, leaving the roadway, colliding with a public lighting pole, later with the wall of a shop located in the parking lot of the shopping center in Florești”. stated IPJ Cluj.

The authorities' checks showed that the man did not have a driver's license for any vehicle category. In this case, a criminal case was drawn up for “driving a vehicle without a driver's license” and “refusal or evasion from taking biological samples”.
The man was detained by the police, and on Friday evening the judge of rights and freedoms of the Cluj-Napoca Court ordered the measure of preventive arrest for 30 days.
