In May 2004, on Metallurgov Street, a janitor noticed a baby wrapped in a blanket on a park bench. The umbilical cord was not tied; at the hospital they found long blond hair on it. But the unfortunate mother could not be found, despite leaving a piece of DNA.
The boy was sent to an orphanage, where he was named Zhenya, and 9 months later he was adopted by a family from the USA. The baby was transported to the States and began to be called James. Zheka grew up, learned that he was born in Russia, and began to look for his biological parents with the help of private investigators and volunteers. They posted leaflets all over Novokuznetsk about the 20-year-old case. The granddaughter of that same woman janitor responded to one of them and joined the search. It's still quiet, but James hopes that mom will see the ad and get in touch herself.
