June pensions higher by over PLN 200. ZUS calculates benefits

From the beginning of January 2026, ZUS will ex officio recalculate pensions and survivors' pensions that were granted or converted in June in the years 2009–2019. This also applies to survivors' pensions of persons to whom the same rules were applied. Customers do not need to submit any applications. After completing the recalculation, ZUS will issue a new decision. If the new benefit amount turns out to be lower, the current amount will remain unchanged.
According to data provided by the Social Insurance Institution, 23,000 were converted. 300 benefits paid in January 2026 in PLN 19,000. 500 cases, which is 84%, the payment will increase, while in 3 thousand cases 800 people, i.e. 16 percent, the conversion did not affect the amount of the benefit.
ZUS also reported that as many as 98 percent conversions concern pensions, and only 2 percent survivors' pensions. Recalculations concern women more often – they constitute 66%. all cases, while men account for 34%.

According to ZUS, thanks to the new rules, beneficiaries gained an average of PLN 203 and 80 groszy per month. Conversions became possible because less favorable rules for indexation of contributions were in force in 2009–2019. Currently, ZUS uses solutions such as when determining the pension in May, if they are more favorable, and then indexes the benefit to today.
The Social Insurance Institution assured that all cases will be considered by March 31, 2026 at the latest.
