The commander of the group of troops “South”, Colonel General Gennady Anashkin, was removed from his post.
According to the TG channel “Rybar”, the reason is the situation in the Seversky direction. The general did not convey to the high command the true state of affairs, he hid the real situation – units of the Main Guard “South” were also fighting near Seversk. This was confirmed by military correspondent Yuri Kotenok. There is no official information about Anashkin’s removal from office.
Anashkin graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School in 1993. From September 2021 to January 2022, he served as commander of the military formation of the Russian Armed Forces in Nagorno-Karabakh. On May 15 of this year, he became acting commander of the Southern Military District.
