FC Botosani wasted the biggest opportunity of the stage in the match played at home, the last of the 24th round of the Superliga, against those from Oțelul Galati. Zoran Mitrov missed incredibly from just a few yards under pressure from Enzo Lopez, hitting the crossbar, prompting an eloquent reaction from a surprised Sebastian Mailat with his hands in his head.
Only 614 supporters were present in the stands of the “Municipal” stadium in Botoșani, the lowest attendance in stage #24.

The opportunity came after a beautiful action by the Moldovans, started on the left side, after an excellent combination game, which opened up the opposing defense. Sebastian Mailat initially passed to Enzo Lopez, who was alone, but he chose the altruistic solution and sent on to Zoran Mitrov, who came in a much better position, facing the goal. The forward had the last touch, but sent the ball into the crossbar, a moment that made Mailat put his hands to his head.
Zoran Mitrov has been playing at FC Botoșani since January 2024 and, during this period, managed to score 11 goals and provide 8 decisive assists in the 76 official matches played in the Moldovan shirt. On the other hand, Sebastian Mailat, stunned by the miss, collected 200 matches in the Superliga, a competition in which he scored 41 goals and provided 12 decisive assists.
Mailat made his debut on May 29, 2016, in the ACS Poli Timișoara – CSM Poli Iași 2-3 match, and also played for CFR Cluj (three championship titles), Gaz Metan, FC Voluntari and Sepsi.
