The mineral resource agreement between the United States and Ukraine is a signal for Russia that there is no fundamental difference between the goals of the American and Ukrainian nations – said the Minister of Finance (treasury) of the USA Scott Bessent on Thursday in an interview with Fox Business Network.

In his opinion, this agreement will show “Russian leadership that there is no fundamental difference between the Ukrainian and American nation, between our goals.”

“Americans will not earn anything if Ukraine does not prosper. Therefore, we are now fully correlated in economic terms. I will repeat that this is a strong signal for Russian management and this gives President (Donald) Trump the opportunity to negotiate with Russia from even a stronger position,” Bessent said.

And he added: “This is a contract on total economic partnership. It concerns not only the metals of rare lands, but also infrastructure and energy. So it gives both parties a chance to win.”

According to the agreement on economic partnership and the creation of the American-Ukrainian Investment Fund for reconstruction, the USA and Ukraine, they are to make payments to the fund equally, and in the case of the US the value of future military assistance, the value of future military assistance will be counted. On the Ukrainian side, the fund is to be powered in the form of 50 percent. revenues to the state budget from the operation of new raw materials. (PAP)
