We reproduce below the main price offers of natural gas suppliers starting from April 1, 2026:
- The lowest advertised rate belongs NOVA POWER & GAS: NOVA Household subscription_fixed price 12 months_price valid from 01.04.2026 – 251.87 lei/MWh (including transport and distribution tariffs), the final cost, including the value of the monthly subscription, VAT and excise duties being 304.76 lei/MWh.
- The second cheapest offer is advertised by Electricity Supply: Gas Stabil type subscription having a price offer valid from April 1 (including transport, distribution, excise, VAT and subscription value) of 337.24 lei/Mwh
- E. On Energy announced a price offer for the current Assit Gas E.On type subscription of 354.13 lei/Mwh (including transport, distribution, excise, VAT and subscription value)
- Engie Romania announced an offer for the ElectriGaz subscription of 365/Mwh (including transmission, distribution, excise, VAT and subscription value)
- PPC Energie SA has the most expensive price offers, for the PPC Gaz Online subscription announcing a rate of 406.4 lei/Mwh, and for PPC Gaz Simplu of 413.66 lei/Mwh (both offers including transport tariffs, distribution, excise duties, VAT and the value of the subscription)
As can be seen, the tariffs increase from April 1st from 0.29 lei/Kwh as currently charged, to 0.304 – 0.413 lei/Kwh.

The most expensive price offers are from the big energy suppliers.

“The offers appearing on the ANRE page for April 1, 2026 — between 0.32 and 0.41 lei/kWh including VAT — are not only a set of new prices, but also a signal that the supply market no longer values energy according to the cost of goods, but according to the size of the risk, commercial prudence and — for some players — an obvious return to high margins”, said energy expert Dumitru Chisăliță, president of the Intelligent Energy Association (AEI).
Recalling that the tariff billed in December 2025 was 0.29 lei/kWh, the specialist specified that an offer of 0.32 lei/kWh means a 3% increase compared to the capped price, which does not mean an alarming price increase. “It's an almost neutral move: maybe a higher administrative cost, a portfolio adjustment, a normal update. Instead, the upper end of the range, 0.41 lei/kWh, means an increase of 32% compared to the capped price — and here we are no longer talking about adjustments, but about a brutal repositioning”stated Chisăliță.
According to him, these price-increased offers also mean an increase in the supplier's profit, from 4% currently, to around 22%, costs to which VAT is also calculated. “And when the final price increases, the tax effect inevitably appears. The VAT does not change as a percentage, but as an amount on the invoice it increases directly proportional to the base. So, a 32% increase in the final price also leads to an increase of about 32% in the amounts paid as VAT. For the consumer, this means a simple thing, not only does he pay more to the supplier, but also pays more to the state. The bill becomes heavier in both directions“, explained the specialist.
As such, the 0.32–0.41 lei/kWh range means higher costs for the customer:

“This situation is primarily due to the way in which the preparation for the removal of the cap on gas was (not) managed. These offers were made gradually, mandatorily, month by month in the last year, without the pressure of blocking transactions on BRM in the last months, without “we continue”, “we do not continue” the capping that pushed up the price of commodity gas in Romania, with the obligation to publish the commercial margin of the supplier on the invoice, with a clear commitment “we give the VAT surplus, from the increase the price of recent years back to the consumer”, we would have had fair prices in Romania and they had to be lower than the capped price.
The speed with which the contracts for April 1, 2026 will be made, due to all these analyzes upon analyzes, which artificially created this time crisis, pushes the Romanians to “swallow” these prices by tacitly signing the contracts without knowing what gas prices“, explained the energy expert.
How you can change your electricity or natural gas supplier in 2026
First of all, before deciding to change the natural gas supplier, it is advisable to consult the list of active suppliers and the offers they have announced at ANRE.
The list of natural gas suppliers can be consulted on ANRE's website – here
After you have chosen the supplier with the most advantageous offer for you, you contact the chosen supplier to submit the documents (CI, invoice/ATR, meter index) and the application – either online through the Online Supplier Change Platform (POSF) (for domestic customers) or directly at the supplier, a process that takes approximately 21 days and does not involve costs or disconnection.
How to terminate the contract and change the energy supplier
In accordance with the secondary legislation developed by ANRE, the final customer of electricity or natural gas has the right to unilaterally terminate the contract concluded with his supplier before the deadline, in compliance with the contractual conditions.
Termination of the supply contract by unilateral denunciation by the customer has no effect on the obligations arising from the execution of the contract until the moment of its termination.
Regarding the change of electricity supplier, we remind you that this process is free, and it is prohibited to charge any fees or tariffs related to its completion. The end customer has the right to change the electricity supplier whenever he wants, without any of the economic operators involved having the right to oppose. For this purpose, the end customer has the right to terminate the contract concluded with the current supplier.
We also remind you that the change of supplier will be done in compliance with the contractual conditions and the Regulation regarding the organization and operation of the online platform for changing the supplier of electricity and natural gas and for contracting the supply of electricity and natural gas, approved by Order of the President of ANRE no. 3/2022, with subsequent amendments and additions.
Based on the electricity supply contract concluded with the final customer, the new supplier is obliged to undertake the steps to initiate and carry out the process of changing the electricity supplier.
When changing provider, is there any risk of disconnection?
No, during the process of changing the supplier, the continuity of electricity supply to the place of consumption is ensured.
What are the reasons that might prevent me from switching providers?
With the liberalization of energy markets, the legal framework was implemented to allow all final customers of electricity, regardless of the nature of consumption (domestic or non-domestic), to choose their desired supplier and conclude contracts with him for the supply of electricity for their place or places of consumption.
Can I change provider without paying penalties?
All final customers of electricity have the right to change their supplier, in compliance with the contractual conditions and the Regulation regarding the organization and operation of the online platform for changing the supplier of electricity and natural gas and for contracting the supply of electricity and natural gas, approved by the Order of the President of ANRE no. 3/2022, with subsequent amendments and additions. The process of changing the supplier is free, and it is forbidden to charge any fees or charges related to its completion.
Also, household customers, small businesses and micro-enterprises have the right to change electricity supplier or market participant involved in aggregation, without any switching fee. By way of derogation from this provision, electricity suppliers or market participants involved in aggregation may charge final customers commissions for the termination of electricity supply contracts concluded for a determined duration and with fixed prices, in the event of their early termination by the final customer.
The technical process of changing the supplier takes place within 24 hours through POSF.
Required Documents (for domestic customers):
- Copy of the Identity Card (CI).
- Copy of the last utility bill or Connection Certificate (ATR).
- The current meter index (can be obtained from the current supplier or network operator).
Submission of Application:
- Online Supplier Switching Platform (POSF): Go to www.posf.ro (for electricity and gas, 100% online, no travel).
- Direct Contact: Contact the new chosen supplier (eg Hidroelectrica) directly, on their website or by email/phone, to initiate the contract.
Completion of the Process:
The new provider takes over the contract and communicates with the network operator and the old provider.
The change is made in approximately 21 days (10 business days for notification, 10 days for processing).
Important: There are no switching costs and your current provider cannot refuse your departure. Prosumers (those who produce and consume) sign the sales-purchase contract separately, directly with the supplier, outside the POSF platform.
