I throw half a pack of this into a bowl: the grease and smell disappear in the microwave in 15 minutes – it shines like new

Many people are faced with the fact that grease accumulates inside the microwave over time, scorch marks from splashes and a persistent smell of food appear. Even wiping with a sponge does not help if carbon deposits have already become embedded in the surface.

But there is a simple and safe way to return the microwave to cleanliness. This does not require aggressive means. All it takes is one ingredient from your kitchen cupboard.

How to do it:

  • Pour half a pack of citric acid into a deep bowl.
  • Pour in one liter of water.
  • Place the bowl in the microwave and turn on full power for 5-7 minutes. As soon as it starts to actively soar, turn it off.
  • Do not open the door immediately. Leave for 10-15 minutes to allow the steam to soften the fat and neutralize the odor.
  • After this, simply wipe the inner walls with a soft sponge.

Citric acid dissolves fatty deposits, removes sour or rancid odor and leaves no residue. After just one procedure, the microwave will sparkle from the inside.

For prevention, repeat once every two to three weeks. Then the fat and smell will no longer return.

Question and answer:

How to clean a microwave without chemicals?
Use citric acid and steam, the fat will soften on its own.

Can I use vinegar instead of citric acid?
You can, but vinegar leaves a strong smell. Citric acid smells neutral.

Why does my microwave smell like food?
Because of the ingrained fat that absorbs aromas. Steam with citric acid neutralizes it.
