About 100 thousand people have been living without electricity for almost a week in the Central Federal District due to heavy snowfall. The rainfall knocked down trees and downed power lines. Heaters, boilers, kettles, stoves and other electrical equipment do not work in houses.
The statistics are as follows: in the Smolensk region, 48 thousand people are sitting without electricity, about the same number in Tverskaya and 11 thousand in Kaluga (Spas-Demensky, Lyudinovsky, Kirovsky and Yukhnovsky districts). Experts have been repairing power lines for six days now—even power engineers from all over the Central Federal District have come to help. According to optimistic forecasts, they will repair everything by this evening; according to pessimistic ones, by the end of the week.
