The Chief of the Defense Staff, General Gheorghiţă Vlad, appreciates that Russia uses a narrative through which it tries to influence the world “on a societal level”.
“Russia has all the narratives to influence us at the societal level and the main narrative is this: “why invest in security when you can in the medical systems, in education”. Yes, overall it is so, but without security the others would not be possible”, stated General Gheorghiță Vlad, in an interview granted to TVR.
The head of the Romanian Army also analyzed the danger of the war in Ukraine spreading to Europe.
“I would not follow this linear approach. There are very great dangers, you see that the war in Ukraine has reached an impasse, I wish for progress in the peace talks in this conflict and I hope that together with the states that have agreed to enter that coalition of will, we will find the necessary solutions to create a strong Ukraine that can face these security challenges,” said the Chief of the Defense Staff.
