FCSB – Fenerbahce. Elias Charalambous (45 years old), the technician from FCSB, drew the first conclusions immediately after the draw with Fenerbahce, on Thursday evening, the last match of the Romanian champions in this European campaign, which ended in a tie, score 1-1.

After the match, the coach was disappointed that his team could not win this duel, given the opportunities they had, and knows that from now on all attention must be directed to the games in the championship.

He also spoke about the half-time conflict, where he was in the foreground, explaining that it was just nerves and that it is perfectly normal for this to happen in football. Asked about a possible departure from the helm of the team, the Cypriot joked saying that it will take him some time to pack his bags, considering that he has been in Romania for a very long time.

Elias Charalambous' conclusions after the match with Fenerbahce

“One point was the minimum we could take in that match, a set piece could decide a match. The most correct result was to win, we had a good attitude, we played a good game. We were the team with the most chances today, the opponents scored from a set piece. We came back into the match after a poor start, in which the opponents led.

We got a good result, we reacted, we tried to win until the end. I hope to build on what we created today from here on out. The players reacted, they did everything we asked them to do. The Europa League is over for us, from tomorrow we have to focus on the championship.

The players are suffering because of the situation we are in now, and so are the fans. The reaction from the players today was very good, I think the fans appreciate that too. This season we have not been very consistent.

At halftime there were nerves, emotions exist in football. I'm not nervous, I'm ok, I say what I feel, that's football, when things don't go well it's normal. Such things happen, it's football, it's normal. I'm not nervous now. Football is football. We know we get criticized when things don't go well.

I think that sometimes criticism is good. I don't really read the press, I don't know the language that well. I know who criticizes the team constructively and who wants to mess us up. I'm calm, I know what I have to do,” said Elias Charalambous, after the match, to Digi Sport.

Elias Charalambous, asked directly if he fears dismissal

Asked if there was any question of him being sent off after this match, the Cypriot coach added:

“I'm ready for anything. If the club decides that, I have no problem. I don't have my bags packed, I've been in Romania for a long time. I need time to pack my bags. When the results are not good, the coach is the first to blame.

I'm not concerned about that. When I came here, I was told that a coach stays at FCSB for three months. I have been training here for three years. This moment will come sometime, it's normal in football”added Charalambous.
