Several alarming comments, posted on TikTok from accounts that appear to belong to young people, appeared on a condolence clip dedicated to the 13-year-old student from the “Onisifor Ghibu” National College in Oradea who died after jumping, on Monday, from the terrace of a block of flats in the Grand Hill Residence neighborhood.

Friends of Eduard, the 13-year-old boy who died after jumping from the 8th floor, posted an emotional message.

“Smooth road to heaven, brother. We all love you from pump (the friends with whom Eduard used to make pumptrack – no). You were a wonderful man who always made us laugh. We love you and may God rest in peace”, they sent on TikTok.

In addition to the messages of condolence, there have also been worrying comments from some teenagers.

They wrote “I follow” sthey have “I will follow for sure”alluding to the idea of repeating a similar gesture, others noting that Eduard would be the “third” in a string of more recent teenage suicides.

“And once in a while I'll do it too,” is the message signed by Shadow Sugar, while another user scathingly writes: “I don't want to lose my mother, but she's going to lose me in a few days.”

The comments attracted the attention of school officials at the college where Eduard studied, who told parents to be careful about their children's activity on social networks and to check their accounts, especially on TikTok and Instagram.

“On the other hand, before the tragedy, Eduard had redistributed on his Instagram account several clips associated with the online trend called “nihilist penguin”, which starts from a sequence in the documentary “Encounters at the End of the World”, made in 2007 by the German director Werner Herzog, filmed in Antarctica. The scene, which went viral earlier this year, shows a penguin breaking away from its colony and heading inland on its own, towards the mountains, away from the ocean and food sources. Director Werner Herzog describes the behavior in the film as unusual and suggests that the animal is headed for an almost certain death through exhaustion or starvation.” writes Bihoreanul.

Eduard, the 13-year-old child who shocked the entire community of Oradea after, on Monday morning, he threw himself from the terrace of an 8-story building in the city, did not let it be known that he had such a dramatic plan.

Sources close to the investigation show that the teenager left home on Monday morning dressed in his school uniform, but without his phone and backpack. Although he seemed to be on his way to classes, Eduard did not arrive at school.

The boy's father was alerted after receiving a message regarding the child's absence in the early hours. Because Eduard's phone was at home, and the boy could not be contacted, the man went to the college. Only later, when the Police called him on Eforiei Street, near the scene of the tragedy, did he find out what happened to his son.

Eduard's friends knew about the terrace of the block in the Grandhill neighborhood, on Eforiei street. The teenager had climbed there before, along with other youths. Although none of them lived in the building, they knew the access code, which allowed them to reach the roof of the building.

Eduard was alone with his parents and, according to those close to him, he had a good relationship with his family. The parents were involved in the child's life, and the teenager did not lack anything materially.

The investigation is ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the death.

Eduard will be buried on Thursday, from 12 o'clock, in the Municipal Cemetery in Oradea.
