“Nobody expected it.” The last day of the life of Eduard, the 13-year-old boy who jumped from an 8-story building in Oradea

Eduard, the 13-year-old child who shocked the entire community of Oradea after, on Monday morning, he threw himself from the terrace of an 8-story building in the city, did not let it be known that he had such a dramatic plan. Just one day before the tragedy, the teenager spent time with his friends, and a seemingly trivial gesture would later acquire a disturbing meaning, notes ebihoreanul.ro.

According to the information obtained from his entourage, on Sunday afternoon, Eduard went out with several friends in the center of Oradea, where he honored them with shawarma. Nothing seemed to foreshadow the tragedy that would unfold the next day.

“From what I learned from his friends, on Sunday afternoon he went out with several friends on Vasile Alecsandri street and honored them with the shaorma. No one expected, however, that this tragedy would happen the next day.” a teacher from the College declared for BIHOREANUL “Onisifor Ghibu”, the educational unit where Eduard was a student.

He left home without his phone and without his bag

Sources close to the investigation show that the teenager left home on Monday morning dressed in his school uniform, but without his phone and backpack. Although he seemed to be on his way to classes, Eduard did not arrive at school.

The boy's father was alerted after receiving a message regarding the child's absence in the early hours. Because Eduard's phone was at home, and the boy could not be contacted, the man went to the college. Only later, when the Police called him on Eforiei Street, near the scene of the tragedy, did he find out what happened to his son.

The place was known to several teenagers

Eduard's friends knew about the terrace of the block in the Grandhill neighborhood, on Eforiei street. The teenager had climbed there before, along with other youths. Although none of them lived in the building, they knew the access code, which allowed them to reach the roof of the building.

How the teenagers found out about this place is not clear, and the exact circumstances of the tragedy are still being analyzed by investigators.

“He was a cheerful child, with good academic results”

The teachers and those who knew Eduard say that it is difficult to explain what could have caused him to resort to such a gesture. The teenager had good grades, was not known to have disciplinary problems and did not seem affected by major conflicts.

“She was a cheerful person, with a smile on her face, she didn't complain about anything”, say the teachers, who exclude the option of bullying or dangerous challenges from the online environment.

However, the teachers draw attention to a worrying phenomenon: on the posts that appeared on TikTok about Eduard's disappearance, several teenagers wrote, in the comments, messages like “they follow too”.

Eduard was alone with his parents and, according to those close to him, he had a good relationship with his family. The parents were involved in the child's life, and the teenager did not lack anything materially.

His great passion was cycling. He had a bicycle that he loved very much, and in the coming days, several friends plan to gather with their bicycles in a public area in Oradea, to honor his memory.

On Tuesday, in the class where he studied, Eduard's colleagues, deeply affected, lit candles, brought flowers and photos, in memory of the one who was their friend and colleague.
