A “winter garden”, glass screens or even a safety net for animals may involve interference with a part of the building's facade, which in turn is protected as an element of a larger whole. What threatens the owner of the apartment? First of all, the district construction supervision inspector may initiate administrative proceedings. As a result, he will come demolish the buildings at your own expense and pay a fine ranging from PLN 20,000 to PLN 5,000. zloty.

Those who can already be proud of building a balcony, but have forgotten about the appropriate consents, can try to legalize it. However, it usually costs several thousand zlotys.

So how do you do it legally? All elements constituting the balcony development should appear after the written consent of the building manager (sometimes this may involve the need to submit a design). Additionally, the installation of a structure higher than 3 meters requires notification to the starosty or city hall. This must be done no later than 21 days before the start of work.
