British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was amused by the sunglasses worn in recent days by French President Emmanuel Macron, who answered him on Tuesday in a humorous tone, all in the form of a reference to the movie Top Gun (1986), writes AFP, taken over by Agerpres.
“Bonjour!” greeted the Labor leader, donning a pair of aviator glasses, in a short video posted on his TikTok account late Monday.
The sequence is part of the recording of the podcast, The Political Party, in which Starmer also participated in a theater in the British capital.
To the attention of the French president, a line from the movie Top Gun with Hollywood star Tom Cruise is inserted in the text accompanying the video: “Talk to me, Goose”.

In the film, Goose is the co-pilot and best friend of Maverick, played by Tom Cruise. Maverick often told him “Talk to me, Goose” when he was flying a fighter jet.
It was enough for the French head of state to reply, in the comment, “For sure”, repeating an expression he used several times in his speech in Davos on January 20, which went viral on social networks.
Promptly, the British leader reacted, posting an image similar to a Top Gun movie poster: no Tom Cruise, just the two leaders in military uniform, wearing sunglasses. Above them: two fighter planes and the flags of France and Great Britain.
The glasses worn by Emmanuel Macron due to a benign eye problem, which he wore especially during his speech in Davos, caused a stir and generated an avalanche of memes on social networks.
Even American President Donald Trump did not miss the opportunity to mock Emmanuel Macron, saying that he is looking to “play hard”.
