Siberians created a chat to help homeless animals in severe frosts

25 January 13:44

In Tomsk, against the backdrop of frosts down to −39 °C, a telegram chat for emergency assistance to homeless animals appeared. Over the course of a few days, volunteers rescued about ten dogs, including puppies, and the group now cares for about 50 street cats and dogs.

As the initiator of the group, Asya Rustamova, told RIA Tomsk, the idea arose after volunteers found hungry and freezing puppies in the village of Kuzovlevo on January 15. There are currently about 350 people in the chat. Participants receive daily signals about animals, cook porridge, buy food, give food to those who go to the points, look for hay and materials for booths. The help of motorists is especially valuable, without whom it is impossible to cover all places.

Volunteers have already managed to rescue and take in about ten dogs, including four puppies from Kuzovlev, who were taken in serious condition. Among those rescued is a young dog, Jack, who was abandoned at a gas station before the frost.

Now the main task is not the device, but the rescue and nursing of frostbitten animals. “When it becomes calmer and the temperature stabilizes, we will look for families,” says Asya. She hopes that the group will continue to work in the summer to help animals in the heat and save them from ticks.
