Criminal case and fines of over 28,000 lei following the events of the Union Day in Iasi. The biggest penalty – 11,000 lei

After the demonstrations organized in Iași on the occasion of the Day of the Union of the Romanian Principalities, the authorities imposed significant fines and opened a criminal case.

The demonstrations dedicated to the Day of the Union of the Romanian Principalities, held on Saturday, January 24, in the city of Iași, generated the intervention of the Gendarmerie, which applied contraventional sanctions and drew up a criminal case following some incidents during the events.
According to a statement from the “Alexandru cel Bun” Bacău Mobile Gendarmerie Group, sent to Agerpres, a man from Bucharest, who was part of an organized group, was fined 1,000 lei for provocation and participation in the scandal. At the same time, another man was sent before the criminal investigation bodies for carrying or using dangerous objects without the right.
On Sunday, the gendarmes applied another 14 contraventional sanctions, totaling 27,000 lei. Among them, one person received two cumulative fines of 11,000 lei, of which 10,000 lei for organizing and holding prohibited public gatherings and 1,000 lei for provoking and participating in a scandal.
Eight other people were fined a total of 16,000 lei. The details include a fine of 5,000 lei for initiating violent actions with the intention of disturbing a public assembly and eleven other fines, totaling 11,000 lei, for disturbing public order and uttering insults.
The Gendarmerie specified that the checks continue to identify and sanction other people who, during the demonstrations, exerted pressure on the order system, incited violence, uttered insults or showed disrespect for national symbols, violating the legal framework in force.
