If you want something homemade, warm and fragrant, but don’t have the time or opportunity to turn on the oven, this recipe is for you. Tender, fluffy charlotte with juicy apples is obtained right in the pan on the stove. It's made from the simplest ingredients and smells like grandma baked all day.
You will need:
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
A pinch of vanilla or cinnamon
3–4 medium apples
Vegetable oil for lubrication
Step-by-step preparation:
- Peel and core the apples and cut into thin slices.
- In a bowl, beat the eggs with sugar until light foam, about 3-4 minutes, using a whisk or mixer.
- Sift flour into the egg mixture, add baking powder and vanillin or cinnamon.
- Stir until smooth; the dough should be thick, but not dense.
- Take a deep saucepan with a thick bottom. Lubricate its walls and bottom with vegetable oil.
- Place the apples in an even layer on the bottom, then fill with the batter.
- Cover the pan with a lid, reduce heat to low and cook for 30-35 minutes. To prevent the dessert from burning, you can put a heat divider under the pan or use a double bottom.
- Check doneness with a toothpick; it should come out dry.
- Let the charlotte cool slightly, then carefully invert onto a plate or serve directly from the pan.
Serve warm, sprinkled with powdered sugar or condensed milk. This dessert is especially good with a cup of tea on a cold evening.
Bon appetit!
