It is said that Karl Sturen retained loyal contacts and influence over assets, because some of his former partners openly sided with the occupiers.
Among such traitors – Eduard Repilevskyiwho as early as 2022 found himself in the status of “minister of agriculture” of the occupation government of the Kherson region. The de facto Gauleiter of the occupied Kakhovsky District Pavlo Filipchuk received funding from Sturen's entourage for years.

The investment fund Argentem Creek Partners (ACP) actually delegated the management of the Odesa port terminal to Karl Sturen.
The political scientist draws attention to the fact that the fund has been cooperating with Russian business for a long time. Since 2022, ASR has a joint investment with ACG Mining Limited (Artem Volynetsformer top manager of the aluminum giant Rusal, owned by Oleg Deripaska). In 2024, ASR provided a $20 million loan to Salmon, a fintech company linked to Russian businessmen Fedorov and Chesnakov. Pavel Fyodorov is the “right hand” of the odious Russian top manager Igor Sechin.
Sturen is the second attempt of ASR to enter the terminal. Last year, the fund hired Trans-Oil, a company controlled by a Russian citizen, for this purpose Jasha's weight.
“Olympex terminal is not in the best condition. The staff has been laid off, huge debts have accumulated. So it is possible that the economic interest is no longer the main one. It's just that someone has a desire to enter a strategic port of a warring country in the interests of a certain party.
