The grand final of the African tournament will be contested between Senegal and the host country Morocco. The match will take place tomorrow, January 18, from 21:00 at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah in Rabat.
Even though they did not have the most important players in the starting XI, namely Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman respectively, Eric Chelle's Nigeria eventually prevailed against Egypt, thus managing to get the bronze medal in the #35 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah and Marmoush, the only Egyptians who missed from the penalty spot!
The first 90 minutes of the duel in Casablanca represented a clean draw, as Akor Adams' first-half goal was disallowed for a foul in the run-up to the goal.
Thus, the country that was going to record a new podium at the CAN was decided on penalty kicks, and the “super eagles” were victorious, this after losing to Morocco on penalties in the semifinals.
Three of the four superstars who took part in this duel did not start the game from the first minute. Only Mohamed Salah was started in the Egyptian camp, while Omar Marmoush was introduced during the second act.
On the other side, Osimhen remained on the bench throughout the match, and Lookman made his appearance on the field also in the second half.
Of the three, however, only Lookman managed to convert from the spot, with Salah and Marmoush wasting penalties that ultimately made the difference for Hossam Hassan's men.

For Nigeria, it is the 9th time it has won bronze at the most important competition on the African continent. However, the best performances in the history of the “super eagles” at the CAN were recorded in 1980, 1994 and 2013 respectively, when they managed to win the tournament.
On the other hand, Egypt has won the big trophy no less than 7 times, being the most titled country from this point of view.
