Bruce Davidson, a medical specialist at Washington State University's Elson S. Floyd School of Medicine, is launching a new theory about President Donald Trump's health.
On The Court of History podcast, picked up by the Daily Beast, Bruce Davidson suggested that 79-year-old Donald Trump might have suffered a stroke in early 2025, but that he would have continued his public work without disclosing the medical problems.
“I think the stroke happened in the left side of the brain, which controls the right side of the body,” explained Bruce Davidson, who appreciates that this would have taken place “six months ago or more, early 2025.”
In support of his theory, the expert mentioned certain videos that show Donald Trump moving with difficulty, which did not happen previously, and also states that in some of them he observed him holding his right hand in his left arm.
“At the start of 2025, he was slurring his speech, which he hadn't done before and which he had improved recently,” Davidson said. He also mentioned “marked episodes of excessive daytime sleepiness”, known medically as hypersomnolence, common among stroke patients.
The professor also pointed out behaviors observed in public: carefully descending the steps of Air Force One, holding on to the railing with his left hand, despite the fact that the president is right-handed.
“These images are consistent with him having suffered a stroke on the left side of the brain,” Davidson explained.
The expert did not specify the exact type of stroke, but emphasized that if his theory is correct, “it appears that he has recovered significantly.”
Speculations regarding the president's physical and mental decline have been circulating for months, in the context in which Donald Trump appeared in public with visible bruises on his hands, which he would hide with makeup, and with swollen ankles, symptoms associated with chronic venous insufficiency, recognized by the White House in July 2024.
At an event commemorating the 9/11 attacks, Donald Trump was spotted with his face tilted slightly to one side, fueling further speculation of a possible stroke.
Too much aspirin
In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump confirmed that he undergoes several treatments and often wears compression stockings to manage leg swelling.

The president also admitted to taking more aspirin than recommended “to prevent heart disease,” with the White House picking up on this idea and attributing the bruises on his hands to daily aspirin use and frequent handshakes.
Behavior, altered by stroke
Bruce Davidson also suggested that Trump's radical and aggressive governing style in his second term could be linked to post-stroke behavioral changes.
“It's a very serious, worrying, life-threatening, disturbing and scary event, and people react in different ways,” said the teacher.
“Some people respond with humility and gratitude. Others become euphoric: 'I was close to death and now I'm back.'he added.
In response, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt denied that Donald Trump had health problems.
“As the President's physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, has made clear time and time again – and as the American people see with their own eyes every day – President Trump continues to enjoy excellent overall health. (…)
President Trump's tireless work ethic, unparalleled energy, and historic accessibility stand in stark contrast to what we've seen over the past four years, when the declining mainstream media willfully hid Joe Biden's serious mental and physical decline from the American people. Promoting these false and desperate narratives about President Trump is why Americans' trust in the media has sunk to a new all-time low.” she stated.
