The 2026 repair campaign has started at the Boguchanskaya HPP

14 January 17:43
In the first working week of January, the staff of the Boguchanskaya HPP began scheduled repair work.
During 2026, seven units will undergo routine repairs lasting 26-30 days, units No. 4 and No. 6 will undergo major repairs for 60-70 days. The purpose of repairs is to increase the reliability of equipment operation and reduce the risk of unscheduled shutdowns and disruptions in electricity supplies. In accordance with regulatory requirements, current repairs are carried out annually, and major repairs are carried out on average once every 5 years, after the unit has operated for 32 thousand hours. The annual schedule is drawn up according to a scheme that allows reducing equipment downtime and increasing work efficiency.
The repairs began with hydraulic unit No. 3. Specialists will inspect the hydraulic turbine stator, repair the thrust bearing and guide bearings of the generator and turbine, carry out maintenance of auxiliary equipment and other work. During the second ten days of January, unit No. 4 will be tested for 72 hours to measure the vibration of the frontal parts of the stator winding. The tests will be an important stage in preparation for a major overhaul, which includes stator re-wedging, flaw detection and repair of fasteners, maintenance of the electro-hydraulic regulator, repair of auxiliary systems and other activities.
In addition to routine and major repairs, the units will be periodically stopped to check current and voltage transformers, test relay protection and automation devices, carry out control tests of hydrogenerators, as well as inspect and clean the underwater part of the debris-holding grids. The duration of the work will be 1-5 days, which complies with the standards and guarantees the implementation of preventive measures in full.
In the first ten days of 2026, the average flow rate through the hydroelectric units of the Boguchanskaya HPP was about 3020 cubic meters per second, which corresponds to the regime established for the station by the Yenisei Basin Water Administration. The level of the Boguchansky reservoir in the first days of January was around 207.65 m (above the level of the Baltic Sea). The reservoir at the station site is covered with ice, a small polynya remains in the area of the aggregate sections. The level of the Angara in the lower pool is around 138.5 m.
According to the requirements of the “Technical Operation Rules”, all hydroelectric power plant equipment must regularly undergo a full inspection of all components and parts. The work is aimed at a thorough analysis of the condition of the turbine, generator equipment and auxiliary systems of the hydraulic unit and the elimination of identified defects. Before being taken out for repairs, each unit undergoes preliminary preparation – drainage of the water pipeline and spiral chamber, initial inspection of the equipment and other work.
