Online classes in 10 schools in the country due to severe weather. 3,000 students stay at home

The Ministry of Education announced that on Tuesday, January 13, classes will be held online in 10 educational institutions, so that approximately 3,000 students will stay at home. In three schools from Bistriţa-Năsăud, Satu Mare and Teleorman counties, classes will be suspended, but will be recovered later.

According to the data provided by the county school inspectorates today (reference time: 17.00), due to the unfavorable weather conditions, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, classes will be held online in 10 educational units (totaling approximately 3000 students/preschoolers), one in each of the counties: Argeş, Arad, Dolj, Olt, Prahova, Satu Mare and as many two in Timiş and Teleorman counties“, the Ministry of Education and Research announced on Monday.

The cited source specified that in three educational units, totaling approximately 450 students, one in each of Bistriţa-Năsăud, Satu Mare and Teleorman counties, the didactic activity will be suspended, and the course hours will be recovered.

The Ministry also announces that the situation may change depending on the evolution of the weather and the decisions of the local authorities.

On Monday, meteorologists announced that the weather will be particularly cold throughout the country until Wednesday, with several yellow code warnings being issued. The mornings and evenings will be frosty, especially in Banat, Crisana, Maramureş and Transylvania, but also in the mountain areas, where temperatures can drop to -20 degrees.
