Sent to the field by coach Daniele De Rossi (42 years old) in the 83rd minute, the Romanian international did not take advantage of the chance and missed the penalty which meant three golden points for Dan Șucu's Genoa.
What the Italians write about Nicolae Stanciu, after the wasted penalty in extra time at AC Milan – Genoa 1-1

The Italian journalists didn't have much to say about Stanciu's performance, considering that he played for about 15 minutes, but they related to the poor execution he had on the penalty.
Stanciu sent well over the goal defended by Mike Maignan (30 years old), and Genoa went home with a single point.
Those from stadiumonews.it gave him the mark 4.5 to the Romanian and they made a short characterization: “An evening that he will hardly forget. He has a chance to put Genoa ahead again against Milan in the last second from the penalty spot, but sends the ball wide of the goal.”
4.5 also received from the people at sport.virgilio.it: “He wasted the winning penalty.” Same note from goal.com.
TMW publication gave it the grade 4: “Unsightly penalty, wastes the match ball.”
4.5 was the note he received from Sky Sport Italia.
This was the third consecutive penalty missed by Stanciu, after the one from the national team against Kosovo (2-0) on 12.09.2022, in the Euro 2024 preliminaries and the one from the match with Sigma Olomouc (1-0) from 4.12.2021, when he played for Sparta Prague.
He has 11 missed penalties out of 27 taken in his career.
The last converted penalty came in September 2021 in the Czech Cup, Slovan Velvary – Slavia Prague 2-4.
