Victoria Center in Poznań to be demolished. This is what will be built in this place

The Wielkopolska Marshal's Office, which is the new owner of the building at the corner of Strzelecka and Królowej Jadwigi streets in Poznań, announced its plans for the Victoria Center on Thursday. The office bought the building not to develop it, but to demolish it and build something completely new in its place. Marek Woźniak, the voivodeship marshal, informed journalists that, among others, to make life easier for people coming to the Wielkopolska Oncology Center.

— The hospital is constantly expanding and increasing its potential in the field of medical services. However, with every information about another investment, a question arises: what about parking lots? Over the years, we have been looking for various solutions. Ultimately, the director presented a proposal that seems very promising – said Marek Woźniak, quoted by the Epoznan portal.
Poznań. Parking lot and shelter instead of a shopping center
The Victoria Center building has existed in Poznań since the second half of the 1990s. From the very beginning, it was planned to be a shopping center. It wasn't very big – about 80 stores. However, the facility was not lucky with its customers and did not attract their interest. In 2012, it was rebuilt and its function changed. It became an office building and changed its name to Victoria Business Center, but the offices were also unsuccessful. At the end of last year, it was purchased by the government of the Greater Poland Voivodeship and handed over to the Greater Poland Oncology Center for use.

A multi-storey parking lot for 600-700 cars is to be built here. Its concept is already ready. According to the voivodeship marshal, however, the facility may serve an additional function – a shelter in case of an emergency.
– We purchased this facility with the idea that after its demolition, a multi-story parking lot with approximately 600 spaces will be built in this place, also with an underground part, which today in this type of facilities is also treated as a temporary place of shelter for people in the event of a war threat – explains Marek Woźniak, quoted by Epoznan.
