“It's a shame! We're not asking for much”

The changing rooms where it rains, the lack of any improvement in the last decade and the shameful conditions for the League 1 level are the problems publicly reported by the players of FC Botoșani. Sebastian Mailat (28 years old) and Andrei Miron (31 years old) spoke openly about the infrastructure situation at the stadium, accusing poor conditions that persist for years, despite the competitive level at which the team evolves.
FC Botoșani resumes the season in the Superleague from the third position, with 38 points, two below the leader Universitatea Craiova.
With big plans in Moldova and play-off claims, the players are however dissatisfied with the outdated infrastructure they benefit from at the stadium.
VIDEO. Sebastian Mailat: “We would also like the conditions of the other clubs”
In an interview for GSP.RO, Sebastian Mailat, the man with the goal in Leo Grozavu's team, directly complained about the conditions they go through every day at the stadium built in 1970.
“I don't know if you know, but it's raining in our dressing room! It's actually raining in the dressing room… We'd like the conditions of the other clubs and we're not asking for much. Just some new dressing rooms”Mailat said.
Miron: “It's shameful to play in League 1 with such a stadium and such conditions”
Instead, team leader and one of the most experienced players in the squad, Andrei Miron, launched a manifesto against the local authorities, who are in charge of maintaining the 7,782-seat stadium.
“I'm very sorry because I was ten years ago for the first time in the team and the conditions are the same. Nothing has changed at all! I'm really very sorry for this situation. I don't know who it depends on, who has to do more… It's shameful to play in League 1 with such a stadium and such conditions”says Miron.

This is what the FC Botoșani stadium looks like
Even the opponents complained about the experience lived in Moldova. And the defender of Botoșani agrees with the critical statements: “And they are very right! I'll give you an example. I played at Metaloglobus, but there, in two months, a locker room was built… The conditions are pretty OK, where you can do your job.”
The stadium must be transformed into a place worthy of our city and I will not stop until we see our goal achieved. Mr. Mayor, let's think seriously about restoring the turf, but for that I need attention, and communication, to understand that it's not mine, it belongs to the stadium, to the people, to this wonderful city that loves football
– Valeriu Iftime, patron of FC Botoșani
“Weak chances of building a stadium and moving the team”
As, in recent years, especially during the election campaigns, dozens of stadiums have appeared overnight in Botoșani, Miron cuts off the momentum of the supporters.
“I don't think another stadium will ever be built! Maybe just some changing rooms and some conditions… A better recovery place. Little chance of building a stadium and moving the team. We need changing rooms and conditions for training. And the stands should be modernized“, Miron also declared, exclusively for GSP.RO.
I couldn't use what was in the changing room, I didn't even have toilet paper in the bathroom. The air conditioner also broke down, nothing was working. This is us in 2025! I know that Botoșani is trying to play football, he is investing. But unfortunately, at least for me it's not OK
– Mirel Rădoi, former Craiova coach (August 2025)

The project regarding the new stadium in Botoșani appeared three years ago, and the arena that will be built in the north of the country would have between 8,000 and 10,000 seats. Since then, absolutely nothing has happened, and the fans are left with only renderings of a new arena.
