Open day at the emergency room or the national holiday “Srakopad”. People joke online about the weather and ice

“Today in Kyiv there was a free open-air skating rink. Everyone enjoyed it to the fullest. How do you like today’s “srakopad”? – residents of the capital write.

Ice is also observed in Sumy. City residents are urged to be careful on the roads. But not everyone manages to stay on their feet.

“Today there was a real fall. I was going to work, I didn’t get 400 meters. I fell. I’m lying down. Why get up? I turned over on my belly and drove off, pushing off with my hands,” the Ukrainians share their experience.

“Kyiv! Attention! There's rain on the street – be careful. I almost fell 10 times while I walked 100 meters,” residents of the capital told about their falls.

“I propose to rename January to srakopad,” netizens put forward the initiative.

Ice spoiled the plans not only for pedestrians, but also for winter joggers.

“Dear runners! Today there is rain on the sidewalks and 99% of winter sneakers will not help you. Yes, you are all great, but you shouldn’t be a hero. It’s better to skip one day instead of one month at best,” more experienced colleagues urged the athletes.

In order not to lose heart, netizens suggested calling this day the Day of Loss of Coordination of Movements, the Day of Open Doors at the Emergency Room, or the national holiday “Srakopad”.

Context

On January 8–9, worsening weather conditions are predicted in Ukraine due to the movement of an active cyclone.
