In the last days of 2025, the first official abandonment of the current season of the second league was foreseen! Overwhelmed by financial problems of all kinds, Muscelul Câmpulung is still getting chances, and the players got together earlier this week.

22 footballers attended the first training session of the new year, and the Argeș team has no less than 8 friendly matches in its schedule. Three of these, right in front of Superliga opponents: Unirea Slobozia, FC Botoșani and Metaloglobus.

The Câmpulung Muscel has reunited

“After a month of vacation, FC Muscelul Câmpulung started today the preparation for the second part of the season.

At the first training session of 2026, coach Alecsandru Popovici had 22 players at his disposal, 16 of whom wore the shirt of our team in the first part of this championship edition, plus 6 juniors from the U19 group. Defender Marius Sanda, a footballer who played at Câmpulung last season, was also present at the team reunion.

President Costin Ghiță assured that in the next period the team will be filled with footballers who will increase the value of the team. The first training was one of rehabilitation to the effort, being carried out in the strength room. Until the championship match with CSM Slatina, scheduled for February 21, Muscelul will prepare locally, playing 8 test matches.

Câmpulungeni will meet three teams from the Romanian Superliga, two from League 2, two from League 3 and one from League IV. The first friendly is scheduled for Thursday, January 8, from 1:00 p.m., at the Buftea National Football Center, with Unirea Slobozia, a team active in the first league”, the officials of the League 2 team said.
