At the conference after Tuesday's summit of the “coalition of the willing” in Paris, Prime Minister Donald Tusk was asked by journalists about the future of the reform of the National Labor Inspectorate. The project was adopted by the Standing Committee of the Council of Ministers at the beginning of December.

Tusk reminded that the draft act amending the Act on the National Labor Inspectorate and certain other acts assumes increasing the powers of the National Labor Inspectorate. This includes: giving PIP the possibility of transforming civil law contracts into employment contracts pursuant to an administrative decision. The Prime Minister emphasized that “in the extreme version” this would be done without asking for the consent and acceptance of both the employer and the employee.

– I believe (…) that excessive power for officials who will decide who is employed (…) would be very destructive for many companies and could also mean the loss of jobs for many people. This is what my analysis shows. And that is why I spoke about it very firmly and with justified emotions and explained to the ministers why I saw the risks associated with it and why I decided not to continue working on this type of reform. So I consider the matter closed from my point of view, he said.
