Nicolas Maduro detained. Americans do not want war in Venezuela


Only 33 percent US citizens support the US military operation in Venezuela, which was aimed at overthrowing President Nicolas Maduro. At the same time, as many as 72 percent expresses concerns that the United States may become too involved in the country's affairs – this is according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The conducted public opinion survey reveals significant differences in support for military activities depending on political preferences. Among Republicans, as many as 65 percent respondents support the operation ordered by President Donald Trump. For comparison, this figure is only 11% among Democrats.and among independent voters – 23 percent.

Donald Trump's policies gain support only from Republicans
The poll also shows that overall approval for President Trump has reached 42%, the highest since October. Among Republicans, 43 percent respondents agree with the thesis that the USA should pursue a policy of domination in the Western Hemisphere. However, 19 percent expressed opposition to this approach, and the remaining respondents had no opinion or did not answer this question.
As Reuters/Ipsos points out, the study was conducted online over the weekend among a group of 1,248 American adults. The margin of error was about 3 percentage points.
Nicolas Maduro and his wife were captured by American secret services from their home in Caracas. An American court charges them with, among others: narco-terrorism.
