Mikheil Kavelashvili became the new president of Georgia.
Salome Zubarashvili left her post and the presidential palace this morning. Previously, local officials feared that she would resist and would have to be removed from the residence by force.
On Tuesday, the ex-president threatened to “overthrow the regime” if the ruling Georgian Dream does not agree with the opposition on new parliamentary elections.
The Prime Minister of Georgia then stated that if Salome calls new elections or refuses to leave her office and position, she will be prosecuted.
