Telephone scammers stole all the savings and house from an American pensioner from San Diego, posing as Keanu Reeves. Now the woman lives in her car and is looking for work again. The police are considering a version according to which Ukrainians could be involved in the case.
The criminals acted in two stages. During the first call, they deliberately imitated the actor’s voice in an absurd way so that the woman would understand that she was being scammed and would be scared. And so it happened. After some time, she received a touching SMS from pseudo-Keanu – he wrote that he was sorry and ashamed that they tried to scam her out of money.
A few days later, romance began between the granny and the “actor.” This is how the criminals gained access to the card and personal data. They took out more than $60k, then forced the pensioner to transfer the house to a dummy – supposedly this would return the stolen money. According to one version, the numbers from which the criminals wrote and called are associated with representatives of the Ukrainian community from San Diego.
