Scuderia Ferrari has announced the separation of Zhou Guanyu (26 years old), who was the team's reserve driver in 2025.
Between 2022 and 2025, Zhou Guanyu drove in Formula 1 for the Sauber team (originally called Alfa Romeo, later Kick Sauber). In those 3 years he competed in 68 races and managed to accumulate 16 points, the best place achieved being 8.
Released by Sauber at the end of 2024, the Chinese signed with Ferrari to be a reserve driver in 2025. He shared this role with another former full-time driver, Antonio Giovinazzi.

After a year with the Scuderia, Zhou was again released. Ferrari made the announcement this morning: “We are grateful for Zhou Guanyu's commitment and contribution as Ferrari's reserve driver this season. We wish him all the best for the future.”
Zhou responded in the comments section: “Thank you! All the best, see you soon.”
We remind you that the full-time drivers of Scuderia Ferrari in 2026 remain Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton.
After a disappointing 2025, Ferrari is looking to start the new era in Formula 1 right. The hopes of fans are that the engineers and mechanics at Maranello have built a car good enough for Leclerc and Hamilton to fight for the world title.
