Temperatures will be lower than usual on the last day of the year and on New Year's Eve, forecasters said.

The weather will be colder than usual, said Elena Mateescu, head of the National Meteorological Administration, adding that a frosty night is ahead.

It is possible to record light snowfall in the mountain and intracarpathian areas, but quantitatively weak, she stated in a telephone intervention to Digi24.

According to the ANM forecast, on the last day of the year and on New Year's Eve, the weather will be cold, frosty in the morning and at night, especially in the center, the north of the territory and in the subcarpathian hills in the south.

The sky will be variable in the south and southeast and cloudy in the rest. It will snow lightly in the mountains, as well as in Banat, Crișana, Maramureș, locally in Transylvania and on limited areas in Moldova.

In the mountains, but especially in the Southern and Eastern Carpathians, there will be speeds of 60…85 km/h, and at altitudes of over 1700 m,
gusts will reach 90…120 km/h, snow will be blizzard, and visibility will remain low.

In the north and northeast of Moldova, the east and southeast of Transylvania, there will be intensification of the wind with speeds of 50…70 km/h and it will snow blizzard. Intensification of the wind will also be in the west and south of Oltenia and in the southwest of Muntenia, with gusts of 50…70 km/h, and in the other regions, in places there will be speeds of up to 40…45 km/h.

At night, the wind intensity will decrease in all the low relief areas and only in the high mountain area will there be gusts of over 70…80 km/h. The maximum temperatures will be from -7…-6 degrees in eastern Transylvania, up to 3…4 degrees, isolated in Muntenia and Dobrogea, and the minimum temperatures will generally be between -14 and -5 degrees.

The weather will be cold especially in the morning and at night, according to the National Meteorological Administration.

Skies will be variable throughout the day and clear at night. The wind will generally blow moderately, with speeds of 30…35 km/h.

The maximum temperature will be around 3 degrees, and the minimum will be -7…-5 degrees, slightly lower in the pre-urban area up to -9 degrees.
