The 100-year-old icon of the Mother of God was stolen by gypsies during a christening in a Chelyabinsk church. The day after the feast of the Nativity of Christ.
Roma people brought their children to the ceremony on January 8th. While some of them were with their children, a couple of men stole the icon “Do not cry for Me, Mother” and two lithographs – the Savior and the Optina elders. Before the theft, the thieves crossed themselves.
Noticing the loss, the abbot immediately asked the parishioners for help, and they asked the authoritative gypsies for help. The decision makers scolded the thieves so much that already in the morning the atheists were waiting for the opening of the temple with icons in their hands and begging for forgiveness. The police are checking.
UPD. Two locals, born in 1986 and 2004, were detained in a criminal case regarding the theft of an icon.
