Marvelous Nakamba (31 years old) was the author of a stupid hent in the match lost by Zimbabwe, the national team led by the Romanian Mario Marinică (61 years old), 2-3 with South Africa, which culminated in definitive elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations.
In the 81st minute of the match, the Luton midfielder palmed away the ball in front of goal, although Mohau Nkota's shot looked to be wide of the goal. The referee initially awarded a corner, but following consultation from the VAR room, South Africa were awarded a penalty kick, converted by Oswin Appollis, which settled the final score.

Siyabonga Ngezana, FCSB's defender, was an integral part of South Africa's national team in all 3 African Cup group B matches.

Zimbabwe managed to come back twice against South Africa, but Nakamba's blunder proved decisive. Tshepang Moremi opened the scoring in the 7th minute after being perfectly served by Burnley forward Lyle Foster.
Ties were restored in the 19th minute through Tawanda Maswanhise and South Africa took the lead again in the 50th minute after Foster also got his name on the scoreboard.
Aubrey Modiba's own goal restored parity again, but Nakamba's gesture proved decisive.
The midfielder palmed the ball away in front of goal and South Africa were awarded the penalty from which Oswin Appollis sealed victory and qualification from the group. Zimbabwe, with only one point obtained from 3 matches (1-1 with Angola), left the competition for good.
Nakamba is one of the most experienced players in Mario Marinică's squad. The midfielder played for Nancy, Vitesse, Club Brugge, Aston Villa and Luton during his career, ticking off 4 seasons in the Premier League.
In the summer of 2019, Club Brugge sold Nakamba to Aston Villa for 12 million euros.
