Dental services will be settled in state hospitals, the Minister of Health announces: “A step so that dental treatment is no longer a privilege”

Dental services will be settled in state hospitals, promises Alexandru Rogobete. The Ministry of Health published, on Monday, in decisional transparency, an order for the establishment of the AP-Stoma program (Priority Stoma Actions), through which these services are to be financed.

“Today we made transparent the Minister's Order which creates, for the first time in Romania, a clear and predictable public financing mechanism for dental treatments in the public system: AP-Stoma”, announced Alexandru Rogobete, in a post on Facebook.

According to the draft Order, the program will be financed by the Ministry of Health and will be implemented through public health units that have or will have dental departments or compartments in their structure.

“In Romania there are hospitals that have expressed their desire to develop dental interventions in outpatient or day hospitalization, including with general anesthesia, for both children and adults,” says the Minister of Health.

Through the AP-Stoma program, it will be possible to finance:

• the medication, materials and instruments necessary for dental treatments, including for interventions under general anesthesia
• the analyzes and imaging investigations necessary for the evaluation and monitoring of patients
• essential medical equipment: dental units, radiology and imaging, sterilization, operating room, ATI, laboratory, etc.
• consumables, protective materials and ancillary investigations
• service and maintenance of medical equipment, under clear safety and authorization conditions.

“It is a necessary step so that dental treatment is no longer a privilege, but an accessible medical service in the public system, where it is needed,” says the Minister of Health.
