“The heart says yes, the mind says no”

Novak Djokovic, holder of a record 24 Grand Slam titles, has reached the semi-finals of all majors since 2025 and won his 101st and 102nd career ATP titles in Geneva and Athens. The Serbian is the third best player on the ATP circuit behind Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
Despite his age and constant rumors of retirement, Djokovic shows no sign of giving up tennis as he prepares for his 22nd season on the ATP circuit.
Paul Annacone, Roger Federer's former coach: “The heart says yes, the mind says no”
Amid growing talk of Djokovic's chances of winning a 25th Grand Slam title, Paul Annacone, Roger Federer's former coach from 2010-2013, weighed in in an interview with tennis.com.
“My heart says yes, but my mind says no. It's getting harder and harder. Novak, this seemingly ageless athlete, will have to overcome many exceptional players. Winning seven matches in five sets to clinch another Grand Slam might be too much.
However, betting against him is always dangerous. Legends don't follow the rules,” Annacone said, according to the quoted source.
The last Grand Slam final, in 2024
Djokovic has not played in a Grand Slam final since 2024, when he was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final.
In 2025, the Serbian had to withdraw in the semi-final of the Australian Open, and the other appearances in the penultimate act of major tournaments ended in eliminations in front of Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz.
Although last summer Djokovic declared that Wimbledon was his “best opportunity” to win a 25th Grand Slam, the Australian Open could become the key tournament for his 25th title.
