The Romanian national football team will find out in mid-February their opponents in the upcoming edition of the League of Nations, a competition that will debut in the fall of 2026. The “Tricolors” won the group last year and were promoted from League C to League B.

The hot moment of 2026 is represented by the play-off with Turkey, from the play-off semi-finals for next summer's World Championship, scheduled in Istanbul on March 26. Until then, however, the national team will get to know their future opponents in the League of Nations.

The draw is scheduled for February 12, in Brussels, according to golazo.ro.

Romania, in the 3rd ballot of League B in the Nations League

In the fall of 2024, Romania won Group C with straight wins and promoted to League B, where they will now face much stronger opponents.

Also thanks to the perfect course in the League of Nations and the group won, Romania now has the chance to play the World Cup play-off, otherwise, on the route of the preliminaries, being out of the fight.

In the fall of next year, the tricolors will play again in the competition, the one that could, this time, facilitate their way to Euro 2028!

Romania will be drawn in the 3rd ballot of League B, where there are also Slovenia, Georgia and Ireland, practically the only opponents we might not meet. The rest of the list includes Hungary, Kosovo or Bosnia, teams against whom matches would come out with sparks.

A possible group win would allow Romania to reach League A from the competition, where the giants of European football are, and would help them have an easier route in the preliminaries of the 2028 European Championship.
