“Lautaro Martinez is fine and he doesn't have the problems he had before the Roma game. Also, he recovered from his cold, so he's good, back. Marcus, however, needs a few more days and won't be at Napoli. I'm disappointed, because Marcus is an important player and he didn't deserve this absence, because he was in great shape.
I think he will resume training after the Napoli match. I don't know if he will be ready for the duel with Fiorentina or for the one after, because we have to be very careful. As for the goalkeeper position, Yann Sommer will be the starter tomorrow”, commented Chivu at the press conference, according to sportal.bg.
Cristi Chivu prefaced the confrontation with Royale Union: “We have to think on a large scale”
“We have to think big. We have a club that supports us and we have to be the best version of ourselves to be able to play in all competitions in the spring. It is necessary to keep our enthusiasm and try to avoid the obstacles. We are showing good performances and we have the ambition to continue on the same path as in recent weeks.
Royale Union is a very aggressive team that likes to press high up the pitch. I don't know if it will be the same against us, but I don't think they will completely change their identity. They have already won three points in the Champions League and are leading their league. The defeat at Newcastle is something that can happen to anyone, so they are a strong and very aggressive team,” Chivu said, according to the quoted source.
We look at it match by match and the Champions League should not be underestimated. We know what it means to play in this competition and we have to honor our history. In the last three years, these boys have reached two finals, and that is no small feat. There are teams that haven't done that in 30 years, let alone twice in three seasons. We approach this match with maximum responsibility and concentration. I am happy with what my players are doing. They are trying to have a strong season because they have the ambition to stay at a high level
