Djibril Cisse, former striker for the French national team, has reignited the rivalry between “Les Bleus” and Argentina, three years after the final of the World Cup in Qatar 2022, won by Lionel Messi's team. The 44-year-old former French international was invited to a special edition by L'Équipededicated to the Doha final, and his reactions were extremely harsh.

When reviewing the images from the last act of the 2022 World Cup, Cisse admitted that resentment is still very strong.

Djibril Cisse: “After seeing the images, I got angry. I feel a lot of hatred towards them”

For the former striker, who represented France at two World Cups (2002 and 2006), Argentina became the main opponent of the “roosters”:

They are clearly our main enemy today.”

Cisse went even further, talking about a possible future clash between the two national teams with a very clear goal in mind:

“I want us to win the third star in Messi's last match at a World Cup. We have two or three scores to settle with Argentina.”

His remarks come in a tense context, where relations between the two nations have worsened further after the 2022 finals. In that match, Argentina beat France on penalties, and the tension was later amplified by racist chanting in the public space.

Attack directly to midfielder Enzo Fernandez

Cisse also did not forgive Enzo Fernandez, the Argentinian midfielder from Chelsea, referring to the images that appeared on social networks, in which the player was allegedly involved in offensive chants against French footballers, notes abola.pt.

I cannot understand how his French teammates at Chelsea have forgiven him.”

The career of Djibril Cisse

Retired in 2021, after the experience at PAO Chicago (USA), Djibril Cisse collected 41 selections for the French national team, managing to score 9 goals.

In his club career, the former striker played for: AJ Auxerre, Liverpool, Marseille, Sunderland, Panathinaikos, Lazio, QPR, Al-Gharafa, Kuban Krasnodar, SC Bastia, Saint-Pierroise and Yverdon Sport.
