The Chapel will appear first in the east of Ukraine, in particular, in the Lugansk region it can be seen already at 16.08. The latest is in Transcarpathia, at 17.16.
The star will appear over Kiev at 16.36, over Odessa at 16.49, and over Lvov at 17.04. The chapel will be clearly visible even in cities thanks to its bright yellow-golden, almost flickering-free light.
To see Capella, astronomers advise facing northeast after sunset and looking for a bright yellow star high above the horizon. Other bright stars of the winter hexagon can also be found nearby: Betelgeuse, Sirius, Rigel, Aldebaran and Pollux.
Capella is the sixth brightest star in the entire night sky and the third brightest in the northern hemisphere. It is located approximately 43 light years from Earth and is a binary star system of two giants orbiting a common center of mass. The ancient Greeks considered Capella a symbol of the goat that fed Zeus, and in medieval astronomy it was used for orientation and telling time at night.
According to astronomers, Capella will become a reliable reference point for observations and will become the first star that will mark the beginning of Christmas celebrations in Ukraine.
