“We need players. We have quantity, we need quality!”

FCSB – Rapid 2-1. Costel Gâlcă (53 years old), Rapid's technician, drew the first conclusions at the end of the failure with FCSB, from round #21 of the Superliga. He insisted on new transfers to the team, considering that there is an urgent need for players this winter.

After speaking in the flash-interview about his wishes for the next period, being aware that reinforcements are needed in the middle and in the attack, at the press conference at the end of the game he continued to insist on the same topic and to ask the boss Dan Șucu for transfers, in order to increase the value of the team in the idea of fighting for the title.

“I will work on transfers during this break. I want players to come to meet our goals. We want players from the championship and from outside. If we can't get from us, we also look outside the country. I want an ambitious team, to show in every match that they want to win”said Gâlcă, after the match, at the conference.

Costel Gâlcă's conclusions, after the failure with FCSB: “We need players. Both in the middle and in attack… We need players with personality and quality”

“Practically, we started the match like in the round. We were shy, not to use other words. After that, after the break, we had more courage. We recovered balls, we reached the goal, but we also made mistakes. We made mistakes with both goals. With the first goal, we had superiority, but they scored. And I had told the players to be careful with Olaru.

We were close to equalizing, we had opportunities. We could also receive a penalty at Hromada. I think it was a foul. He knocked him off balance, pushed him from behind. But we need to show more ambition and personality. We are indebted to the supporters.

I expected more points, but we need players. And in the middle, and in attack… We need players with personality and quality. We have quantity, but we need quality players. I think so. If we want to achieve our goals, we need valuable players.

We showed we can win games. But we fluctuate a lot from one game to another. The more pressure the team has, the more it shows…”, said the Giulești coach, after the match, at the press conference.

At the moment, Rapid is the leader in the Superliga, but Gâlcă's team risks losing this position, if Craiova University wins against Csikszereda on Monday evening, in the last match of 2025, with the Oltani having a chance to end the year in first place.
