The Ukrainians decommission two more Russian fighter jets

A serious security incident occurred at a military airfield in western Russia, where two Su-27 and Su-30 fighter jets were damaged in a fire on the night of December 20-21. According to the information provided by the Ukrainian military intelligence services, the event was the result of a special operation carried out by a member of the resistance movement against the Kremlin regime.

The aircraft were in a protective hangar at the military airfield near the city of Lipetsk. Following the fire, the two aircraft were taken out of service, with the loss estimated at up to $100 million — a significant blow to the operational capability of Russian aviation in the context of the war in Ukraine.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense in Kiev claims that the operation was thoroughly prepared for about two weeks. During this interval, patrol routes and guard shift schedules were studied, which allowed infiltration of the airfield and subsequent withdrawal without detection.
The affected planes, with flight numbers “12” and “82”, are among the models frequently used by Russia in its military operations. According to the same source, the success of the action was possible due to careful preparation and strict adherence to the established plan.
The incident raises serious questions about the level of security of the Russian military infrastructure and confirms, once again, the vulnerabilities behind the front lines, in a conflict that is increasingly taking place in the field of clandestine operations.
