Fourth-year students of the journalism department of the Siberian Federal University, within the framework of the discipline “Producing Digital Media Projects,” launched a multimedia project “Behind the Scenes.” It is dedicated to documentary cinema and its Siberian characteristics.
“The concept of the project is built on the main stages of documentary filmmaking: the first part is about how the director comes up with the idea for a future film, then script writing, filming, editing and, finally, the long-awaited festivals. You, together with Siberian directors, will be able to go through this fascinating path of creating a non-fiction film,” said the authors of the project.
The project includes a website and a separate podcast published on the Yandex Music platform.
For the project, the authors talked with Krasnoyarsk directors Anton Kiselev, Philip Ustinov and Vladimir Tarasov. They talked about the main stages of production, introduced us to the behind-the-scenes of the filming process and shared interesting stories from the filming. The students also provided readers with the opportunity to become better acquainted with such an artistic technique as editing and learn more about documentary film festivals.
The project was created by students Sofia Bikkanova, Ekaterina Bezrukikh, Margarita Katashina, Sergei Novik under the guidance of Olesya Boguslavskaya. The partners of the project were the international film festival of author's documentary films SibiriaDOC and the information portal Culture24.
