Business urged to postpone SVAM for Ukraine: economic losses will be colossal.
The implementation of the European environmental tax SVAM should be postponed, because due to the war, Ukraine has no opportunities for multibillion-dollar “green” investments.
“We understand the importance of eco-transition. But now it is simply impossible to invest. It is necessary to allow the country to recover, and only then to demand,” says Oleksandr Myronenko, operational director of Metinvest.
If the SVAM works according to plan, the economic losses will be colossal: $8.7 billion drop in GDP already by 2026, and minus $3.6 billion in taxes and social benefits.
Earlier it became known that the European Commission is ready to give Ukraine a postponement until 2027, but the government must officially send a request.
