Volodymyr Zelensky assessed the first meeting with Karol Nawrocki. “This is the most important thing”

During Saturday's online press conference, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky assessed Friday's conversation with Polish President Karol Nawrocki. He emphasized that for now we cannot talk about the intensity of contacts, because it was only the first meeting with his Polish counterpart.

Zelensky on the first conversation with Nawrocki: specific, honest and open

“I think this is a very positive signal,” Zelensky told reporters. —Of course, the intensity of relations with Poland is important to us. We are friendly neighbors. But the most important thing, in my opinion, is quality [spotkań] and mutual understanding. I believe that with the new president of Poland, we have taken this first step, he added.

Zelensky assessed the conversation with Nawrocki as “good, specific, honest and open.” In my opinion, this is the most important thing. Ultimately, it's all about trust. “I believe this path has begun,” he said.

Zelensky also noted that during his visit to Warsaw he met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the speakers of both houses of the Polish parliament.

Nawrocki about the conversation with Zelensky: tough and honest

President Karol Nawrocki assessed the conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday on social media.

“I had a tough, honest and partnership conversation with President Volodymyr Zelensky about key issues for Poland and Ukraine,” he wrote on Platform X. “Poland has been supporting Ukraine since the beginning of Russian aggression and that is not changing. Today's meeting is a new opening in mutual relations, as well as a chance to start partnership cooperation to the benefit of both countries. This is bad news for Putin,” he added.
