Almost half of Poles gave up shopping because they couldn't pay the way they liked

46 percent respondents admitted that they gave up shopping because they could not use their preferred form of payment – according to a study by the Polska Bezgotówkowa Foundation. As added, 42 percent Poles changed the place of purchase for the same reason.

As indicated in the report describing the study, 71 percent respondents also believe that offering various payment options by a given retail or service outlet is “a manifestation of customer care and a higher standard of service.” According to the authors, the lack of a preferred payment method directly affects customers' purchasing decisions, and the availability of various payment methods becomes one of the basic expectations of customers.

The report also emphasized that growing popularity of card, telephone and other non-cash payments means that entrepreneurs should treat their implementation “not only as an investment in competitiveness and customer loyalty, but also as an indispensable element of running a modern business.”

“The data from the study clearly show that the lack of modern payment methods may actually limit turnover and impede business development,” the authors added.

The study was carried out by Maison & Partners on a representative sample of 1,090 adult Poles on November 7-10, 2025, using the CAWI method. (PAP)
